The Reframe That Will Push You Into Action
Have you ever hit that wall where the action just seems to escape you? Maybe it feels too difficult. Maybe the fear is too great. Are you too in your head about what the outcome will be, or what will people think?
Regardless of what’s bringing you to that standstill, it’s causing you to procrastinate. The procrastination is grinding away at the belief you will ever be able to get it done! Eventually, you don’t even know what’s stopping you because you have made up so many excuses and pushed it off so many times that the whole thing just eludes you! Painful right? Don’t worry you can take back your power!
Here’s the thing: growth isn’t easy. Whether you are trying to get yourself to exercise, start a new venture or build your business, it’s going to be a challenge. But how you view that challenge is the difference in action or avoidance.
If you keep creating thoughts around the action as big, scary, uncomfortable, or too difficult you will step back from it and allow it to grow into something bigger. You are feeding the monster. But, if you find gratitude in it as an opportunity you will step closer to it. I know it sounds too simple so here’s how it works:
1. Call it Out
I want you to think about where this is happening. Is it a work thing? Have you been “thinking” about taking action to show up on social media? Do you keep “running out of time” to prospect? Whatever you’ve been avoiding, bring it to the table right now.
2. Find the Upside
Now ask yourself, “If I accomplish this, what do I stand to gain?” You must have something to gain or you wouldn’t be doing it.
3. Give Thanks
Now that you know what you could gain, say it out loud. “I’m grateful that I have the opportunity to… (grow my business, provide for my family, be my authentic self, live my best life) .”
4. Trust Yourself
Say this out loud, “I trust that I can do this.”
5. Decide on a Step
Decide on the first small step you can take that will be action. You see, one step towards that resistance makes the resistance fade away and you start to become more empowered!
6. Take Action
